Dino Park Rasnov | An incredible journey into the past
Dino Park Rasnov was opened in 2015 and quickly became a favorite destination for families with children, with its main mission being education and recreation. Also this year, Dino Park Rasnov has exceeded the 3 million visitor mark in the 8 years of its existence. In the same period, the size of the largest dinosaur park in Southeast Europe has doubled to 4 hectares and over 120 scientifically certified life-size dinosaurs. In 2023, the park was voted Destination of the Year in the Amusement and Adventure Parks category, and since this year it has been ranked number 1 of the best theme parks in Romania according to Tripadvisor.
In the 8 years of its existence, the Dino Park Rasnov has succeeded in reproducing and exhibiting the longest dinosaur ever discovered in life-size:
- the longest dinosaur ever discovered, Seismosaurus, with a length of 50 meters
- the largest flying animal ever discovered, Hatzegopteryx, which lived in Romania and had a wingspan of 12 meters
- the largest dinosaur, a Diplodocus, which stood on its hind legs and was 11 meters tall
- a fragment of a meteorite that fell to earth and a nest with fossilized dinosaur eggs
Dino Park Rasnov has constantly expanded its range of thematic activities, so that today it presents 120 life-size dinosaurs, an earthquake platform, a volcano simulating an eruption, workshops for children in the park and an open-air cinema. All exhibits and displays in the park are scientifically certified and were developed in collaboration with the Grigore-Antipa National Museum of Natural History, the University of Bucharest, the Romanian Geological Institute, the National Szekler Museum, the County Museum of History of Brasov and local and international private partners.
The Dino Park Rasnov offers scientifically based guided tours to organized groups, and during the “School Differently” and “Green Week” programs, schoolchildren and preschoolers also benefited from the expertise of a dendrologist who told them about the life of trees and shrubs.
