15 January 2024MARIZA at the Palace Hall in Bucharest on May 18, 2024
On May 18, 2024, the highly acclaimed fado artist MARIZA will present a new and captivating concert at the Palace Hall in Bucharest, Romania, to offer her fans an unforgettable evening! Over the last two decades, MARIZA has evolved from a locally known phenomenon, known only to a small circle of admirers in Lisbon, to one of the most popular and best-selling stars of the international music scene.
With the twentieth anniversary of her career and the 100th birthday of the late Amália Rodrigues, she celebrated her milestone with a brand new album released in the US on January 29, 2021 by NONESUCH/WARNER BROS RECORDS. Born on December 16, 1973 in Mozambique and raised in Portugal, Mariza is a multiple Grammy nominee and winner of the BBC’s “Best European Female Artist” award. She is undoubtedly regarded as the international diva of fado music.
Since Amália Rodrigues, no other Portuguese artist has enjoyed such triumphant success. Mariza has received outstanding reviews from discerning critics, proving that she is a world-class talent from whom we can expect even more in the future.
Mariza and Rodrigues share many similarities beyond their origins. Mariza thrilled audiences at the beginning of this century with her performances on the world’s most impressive stages, just as Rodrigues fascinated international audiences in the 1950s and 1960s. MARIZA has also become the most prominent ambassador of Portuguese music in the 21st century, just as Rodrigues was in the 20th century.
