Ecotourism in Romania: Three (3) hikes from the Hay Hut Trail to the Cheese Trail

Ecotourism in Romania is becoming more and more popular. Below is a selection of three (3) walks in / around Râu Sadului or Rîu Sadului, a commune in Sibiu County, in the historic region of Transylvania.

:: Hay Hut Trail in Grui
Difficulty: easy, 2 km / 2 hours, 60 m difference in altitude, for families with children (4-12 y.)
Theme: hay culture and wood processing, visit to the hut renovation project, lunch with local ingredients outdoors in the garden.

:: Cheese trail in Beberani
Difficulty: easy, 3.5 km / 3.5 hours, 150 m difference in altitude, for gourmets.
Theme: Transhumance and local gastronomy, tasting of local cheese specialities, presentation of the Traditional Architectures Route project.

:: Hut trail in Secături
Difficulty: medium, 5 km / 4 – 4.5 hours, 400 m altitude gain, alpine area on the Burduf Challenge route.
Theme: mountain cultural landscape and local architecture, visit to the hut renovation project, lunch in the huts with Balmoș and Afinată.
